I was born on August 15, 1977 in Athens - the first of four children in my large family. I studied in public schools. After successfully passing the PanHellenic exams I got into the University of my dreams, as a student in the Faculty of Law, of University of Athens, where I was fortunate enough to be taught the science of law by great legal academics.
Alongside my studies I developed a strong interest in civic matters. Starting as a member of DAP-NDFK, I was elected by my third year of studies as the Head of the party. During this period I not only represented my fellow students in the department of Faculty of law but throughout the University of Athens as well. Finally after finishing my degree, my political activity within the University was completed when I took up the post of Secretary of DAP-NDFK, the youth organization of the New Democracy party.
After completing my undergraduate studies in Law, I went on to complete a two years postgraduate program in Public Law. Since 2004, and after an eighteen-month traineeship and successfully passing into the Bar Association of Athens, I exercise my legal duties by maintaining an active legal practice in downtown Athens, on Menandrou Street.
In the summer of 2004, at the age of 27, I was elected president of ONNED, the Youth Organization of New Democracy, at the conference held in Chalkis. In 2007, in the Congress in Kamena Vourla, I was honored once again by being re-elected by the members of the largest youth organization. Parallel to this, I was also a member of the Political Council and the Central Committee of the New Democracy party.
Soon, in a special unit on this website you will be able to find out more about this path of mine, that remains close to my heart as well as to the hearts of all those who have been my companions in this journey.
In June 2009 I was a candidate in the New Democracy ballot for European elections and was elected to become Member of the European parliament. My life since then has been shared between Athens, Brussels and Strasbourg.
As member of the European Parliament I am a member of the Committees of Social Liberities, Justice and Home Affairs (lLIBE) and Culture and Education (CULT). I am also vice president of the Interparliamentary Committee EU-Chile and member of the interparliamentary committee on relations Europe-Latin America (EUROLAT).
In the summer of 2011 I followed a specialized program at Harvard University, USA entitled: «Senior Managers in Government».
